The key to achieving true expertise in any skill is simply a matter of practicing, albeit in the correct way, for at least 10,000 hours.

A motivating and focused vibe for a practice productivity app for users young and old who just want to learn music.
The brief was to come up with all of it-work collaboratively in a team with the two creators and a team of developers to make an app that will revolutionize music practice. I was approached to help design an app partnering with Virginia Tech professors Annie and John Stevens, sponsored by Music Academy of the West. I worked as the product and graphic designer for the project, partnering with a team of developers and musicians to create the app.
Going off of the idea of progressing towards a goal, key elements of the logo included a bulls eye target, the number 10 for 10,000 hours, and a lowercase p to represent the name Practice 10k. The logo itself is rounded, having a friendly aesthetic that appeals to both younger users as well as a more experience demographic. Making sure that the app was approachable and didn’t seem daunting was a major factor in the design decisions.
When initially asked to step onto the project, some screens had been made previously from the web developer. The color scheme as well as the navigaion proved very difficult for users durings tests, meaning we proposed a new solution of a lighter, more high contrast color palette. The colors chosen were based on three key words we wanted users to associate with the app, Progress, Motivation, and Focus.
